What is the MBA Inventory?
The Managing By Appreciation (MBA) Inventory is an assessment tool developed by Dr. Gary Chapman, author of the best-selling book Five Love Languages, and psychologist Dr. Paul White.
The MBA Inventory assists supervisors, managers, and coworkers in work settings (for profit, not-for-profit, and volunteer) to be able to communicate appreciation to their colleagues in a way that is meaningful and which “hits the mark” for the person you want to encourage.
In many settings (non-profit organizations, educational institutions, churches and ministries, medical/dental practices) managers want to show their appreciation for the work being done by their colleagues, but monetary reward is either not appropriate or not desired. The MBA Inventory provides helpful guidance in how to encourage others in ways that are meaningful to them and then gives the opportunity to develop a specific action list for each individual who completes the inventory.
The inventory takes 15-20 minutes to complete online and an individual report is generated immediately which identifies the respondent’s primary language of appreciation, their secondary language of appreciation, and the language of appreciation which is least important to them. The report can be printed out and/or emailed to the respondent and others chosen.
After reviewing their results, the respondent can then create a specific action checklist which will communicate the best ways to encourage them through their primary language.
